I know a guy who inherited an ancient crystal skull, quit his job, got rid of all his possessions, made a name for himself in certain circles by traveling around with the skull, and then lost it. His name is Mario and this is an interview I did with him last summer.
WZS: Mario and Pancho’s story: Do you mind if we start with some silent meditation? I just want to do this as honest and candid as we can. I want to be relaxed. I don’t wanna feel… like, herky jerky. I have a lot of anxiety in my life.
MB: So how do you want to feel?
WZS: ugh, just relaxed.
MB: Okay, I am relaxed, very relaxed.
Long Moment of silence, then humming…from our interviewer,
MB: Okay, thank you.
WZS: First of all, what is your name?
MB: huh huh, first of all what is my name? My name is Mario Bojorquez, and that’s even a mouthful for me, so, I am originally from Mexico City, Mexico. I grew up in San Antonio, TX. I was living in Vegas for the last 16-17 yrs., and for the last year and a half I’ve kinda been nomadic. I left Vegas and I have been traveling around the country with Pancho the ancient crystal skull.
WZS: So, how did your family, err, how did Pancho come to be in the possession of your grandparents?
MB: Uh, he was actually discovered in an ancient archaeological site called Montaban in Southern Mexico in what is now the state of Joajaca. He was unearthed about 60 yrs. Ago, uh, and , uh, the man who unearthed him or excavated him, or discovered him was not an archaeologist or an anthropologist. This guy actually was the groundskeeper there at Montaban, and um, you know, he would come to work when the tourists would leave and he would go out by himself at night on his own personal digs. And on one of his own personal digs there he actually discovered the crystal skull. And instead of going and maybe doing the right thing and maybe turning it in, which you’d think would be appropriate, he did what a lot of people do in Mexico, and in Egypt, and Peru. When common people find artifacts they take them home with them. Ah, these people were very, very poor.
WZS: That’s what I would do if I was a kid, and I came across something like that. I would take it home and put it on my shelf.
MB: Exactly. So what he did, when he took it home, was look for a buyer., or somebody to buy the skull. The people that bought the skull from this gentleman were my grandparents. They bought him like in the, and you know, I am not really sure if it was in the late fifties or early sixties, but it was, yeah, like fifty years ago, fifty-fifty five yrs. Ago.
WZS: Okay, and when did you inherit him?
MB: Let me tell you this, he was part of my families private collection, cause they also collected other artifacts, they did. And so he was part of a private collection. My grandfather died in 84’, and my grandmother died in 2009, and it was in 2009, September, well, actually, it wasn’t until October that my father called me up and let me know that my grandmother had died, and wanted me to have the crystal skull as the inheritance. And I will tell you this…first of all I asked my dad what a crystal skull was, I didn’t even know what a crystal skull was! I was like: whadddya mean like the Indiana Jones movie? And then the other thing I asked my dad was, “are you sure she didn’t leave me any cash?” (Chuckles. ) Cause, what was I gonna do with the crystal skull? I had absolutely no idea.
WZS: So, Did you have to go to Mexico to get it?
MB: No. Actually my father brought it from Mexico to the United States.
WZS: Okay. What was your personal/business life like around then?
MB: Oh, I lived in Las Vegas. I was a wholesale tour operator. Me and my business partner, we had a company that did tour and travel in Las Vegas. Whatever you needed I could probably get it for you, you know, hotel rooms, show tickets, ground transportation, stuff like that.
WZS: So, you actually obtained Pancho in the beginning of 2010?
MB: My father brought him to me in November of 2009.
WZS: My understanding is that your family kinda figured that maybe you were the only one that would know what to do with it.
MB: Maybe my grandmother had some connection with the skull. She probably never talked about it to anybody. I guess my family did figure that if there was anybody that would know what to do with such an ancient artifact, it would probably be me. I think it was also my family’s expectation that I would make money off of it and sell it. You know, there’s more possibility of selling it in the U.S. than in Mexico.
WZS: Did you want to sell it when you first got it?
MB: Oh yeah, of course! And, I am very honest about that in all of my lectures. I mean it was a time when, you know, the recession had just started. It hit me very hard in Vegas, and so, whatever use would I have since I am not an art dealer, I’m not a collector of pre-Columbian art or anything like that, so you know my first idea was to sell it. I tried! I did! I really tried, and I went on the internet, and these…
WZS: skull people?
MB: Not skull people so much as, more like pre-Colombian art dealers or collectors.
WZS: And, did you get any leads?
MB: Oh yeah I did. It went as far as finding, um, some people in Paris that were potentially candidates to buying the skull. It wasn’t really that much, uh, you know, my problem was you know, cause obviously the skull didn’t come with a certificate of authentication. So, you know, even though I ran into potential buyers, I was, in the back of my head wondering…”how am I going to authenticate it as an ancient crystal skull?”
WZS: And…you looked into it?
MB: Well, I started doing the footwork of authenticating it, and at first, you know, it was taking it to, and I’ll be honest with you…I didn’t even know that it was crystal when I first got it, because I couldn’t tell the difference between crystal and glass. You know, I’m not a geologist (chuckles), and you know I wasn’t even even that into rocks back then.
WZS: I know when I first met you, my first question was like, “have you shown this to any art historians?”
MB: Exactly. So, the first thing I did was take it to the University of Nevada in Las Vegas to confirm that he was really crystal. And, like, you know, the geologist who examined it immediately told me it was crystal. To him, he was an expert, he didn’t have to do much testing. He could tell that it was really crystal. And, the second thing was, now that I know that it’s crystal. The crystal is millions of years old, I mean there is no doubt about the age of the crystal cause it’s a stone. It’s a rock. It’s a mineral. Uh, so it’s millions of years old, ah, what really the thing is, is authenticating when it was created, when it was made, and whether it was pre-Colombian or whether it was modern carvings.
WZS: So then, how did your life change? Because I’ve known you now for a year, since right after you got it. In my first interaction with you I didn’t know anything about a crystal skull, but the impression that it left on me was like, you know, there was some mystery there, and you didn’t necessarily know what you were going to do with it. You told me that you’d thought about selling it, but what impressed me the most was that, when I was driving away talking to my buddy Charlie, and I was saying that if I got something like that I probably wouldn’t let anybody touch it. You were so willing to let Pancho’s trip be his trip. And then the next time I saw you, it’s like you knew so much more about it, so this has been like a real journey for you.
MB: Oh absolutely. It’s been an incredible journey for me. It really was, and the way that I can describe it is like, when I was first got Pancho I was looking for a buyer, today it’s like I have found myself. You know what I mean? It’s like I’ve really found myself. I have found my mission and my purpose in life, and I am very happy, and very committed to what I do. Ah, I have had, you know…the thing that changed me was that I started to realize, ummm, the skull, and the crystal contains ancient wisdom and ancient knowledge. And, I started tapping into that ancient wisdom and ancient knowledge, and I have been wanting to share it with others. I believe that there is a healing component to the skull, with the crystal there is a healing component, so I want to share that with people. It has been a journey of trusting and, uh, I am sorry… It’s about letting go of old belief systems of what I thought was important.
WZS: What kind of things did you think were important before?
MB: Materialism was the big thing for me
WZS: I know you used to have an apartment, and you had a car.
MB: Oh, I had everything. I had a car. I had an apartment. I lived well, right on Las Vegas Blvd. in a high rise on the 30th floor, and I had a really good lifestyle! You know, I owned my own business, but when the skull came into my life it was about sharing it with others…it was about imparting that ancient knowledge and wisdom with others.
WZS: Okay. When my wife and I visited Las Vegas, you were gracious enough to drive us around. You came and picked us up, and you showed us old Vegas. My wife was really impressed with like, I knew you’d been in the tour guide business, and you were just the perfect person to show us around Vegas.
MB: That’s funny.
WZS: And, as we were driving past your apartment you told me that it happened to be located in the middle of a vortex.
MB: Right. Yeah, there are a lot of vortexes in Las Vegas, especially on Las Vegas Blvd. Ahhh, energetic centers. I don’t think it’s a mistake that there is so much activity on Las Vegas Blvd. and why so many people are attracted. It’s why so much has been built, you know, because of those energetic vortexes that attract all these people. And where I lived specifically, right next to circus circus hotel, there is a very high energy there. There’s a vortex there, and I was right in the middle of that literally living there.
WZS: People go to Vegas to get lucky right?
MB: People go to Vegas to change their lives.
WZS: When I got back from Vegas, my life was changed…
MB: Okay.
WZS: Because, I was married.
MB: Hahaha, that’s true.
WZS: But, I was talking to a friend of mine at work, and he was asking about my trip. So, I told him that I had visited with this friend of mine who has inherited an ancient crystal skull, and he said you must be the luckiest guy in the world. Not only did you inherit an ancient crystal skull, but you got to live inside a vortex!
MB: There are no mistakes. There are no coincidences.
WZS: Okay.
MB: I wouldn’t say I was lucky, though. I would change that word. I will say that I feel very blessed, really, extremely blessed.
WZS: Didn’t you have a nickname that some of the light workers, or, pardon me, but I don’t seem to know what to call or how to describe the subculture of people that you became involved with when you inherited the skull? I think you told me they called you the jaguar priest.
MB: (Chuckles) Some people, they uh, it’s just a title that some people were giving me for a while, it’s a Mayan word…ahh…ahh, I can’t even remember the word now! But, they were giving me that title, but I didn’t take it too seriously. I don’t really believe I’m a priest or anything like that.
WZS: So, you told me then some of the information you had gotten about the consciousness shift, about 2012, and the end of the Mayan calendar…you told me that you had made a decision to lead a nomadic lifestyle…
MB: Mmm Hmm.
WZS: to travel around and give people this message, and that’s what you’ve been doing.
MB: Yes, I have.
WZS: So, your life has changed dramatically?
MB: Check this out: I believe that the ancients put these messages into the skull, not just into this one, but into the other skulls. And, these messages, which I’ve told you before is ancient wisdom and ancient knowledge, and when we are in contact or in the presence of the skull, or in the presence of this crystal we are able to be downloaded with this information from the skulls, from our ancestors. Okay.
WZS: You said that Pancho started to communicate with you, correct?
MB: Mmm Hmm
WZS: You wanted to sell him. You were looking for a buyer, and then you got a message from Pancho?
MB: I heard him.
WZS: Okay, can you tell me a little bit about that?
MB: Sure. I was driving down the street one day, and he was in the back seat. I was actually taking him to the bank to put him in a safety deposit box, and I hear him. I heard a voice, and it said to me: reveal me. Expose me. Reveal me. Expose me. Reveal me. Expose me. Now, at first I thought I was nuts, when I started hearing voices. I thought, what am I; schizophrenic?
WZS: What did it sound like?
MB: It sounded like a little humming sound, actually.
WZS: That’s interesting.
MB: Oh…
WZS: Because when I am in silent meditation, and I am feeling certain ways, I do this thing that I call hum-reading my insides.
MB: Oh, right. Uh huh, I get that, yeah.
WZS: At least that’s how I’ve described it. Can you maybe replicate the sound?
MB: I can’t replicate the sound, because I’m not really good at humming, but I will tell you that if you ever get two crystals and rub them together, they make a little hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm. It’s a frequency. It’s a vibration.
WZS: Like on a glass in a banquet hall or something?
MB: Exactly. So, you hear that, and it was distinctively a language. It was English. A lot of people asked me if I heard him in Spanish, and I don’t hear him in Spanish. I hear him in English. And, I have talked to so many people since that happened, that I really thought that I was the only one.
WZS: Were you pretty skeptical at first?
MB: Oh, I’m still skeptical about a lot of things, but not my relationship with the skull, but yeah. This is something that I haven’t been in for a long time. It’s only been a year and a half. So, yeah there are still a lot of things that I am skeptical about. I was talking about that earlier today. I am skeptical about anything that some people use to take advantage of other people, you know? I can see, like with the skull, and you know people might be skeptical about that…and that’s okay, because I can understand that. I was skeptical for soooo long, so I understand skepticism.
WZS: So, you’ve been on the road for a while, huh?
MB: I have been on the road since about October of twenty-ten.
WZS: Circus life.
MB: Ahh, yeah kind of…maybe more of a missionary.
WZS: But, you are kind of like a rock star.
MB: Well, kind of would be appropriate. Pancho’s a rock, and he’s the star.
WZS: Pancho’s the rock star in certain circles?
MB: In certain circles, yes, a lot of people are like; wow this is incredible. Like I told you, I wish that you could travel with me and see how people react to the skull. Some people have a connection so strong, which I believe is a past life connection with him. They have emotional reactions to the skull.
WZS: What about stalkers?
MB: Ha ha…I’ve met some people that have acted pretty strange, you know. On facebook I had somebody that constantly wanted to know what I was doing, and they started friending some of my friends, and wanting to know where the skull was going to be. It was pretty weird.
WZS: What about sex?
MB: I am celibate.
WZS: But you got a message from Pancho that you were supposed to be his arms and legs, so naturally I wondered, well what about Pancho’s penis?
MB: You’ve been wondering about Pancho’s penis?
WZS: Are you his penis?
MB: (Laughter) Am I his penis? Ahh…look, I’ll tell you something. I have taken a vow of celibacy because I think that it’s important for my vibration to be raised, and I think that things like alcohol and sex can lower my vibration. I also think that meat can lower my vibration, but I still choose to eat meat. I think that sex is very important for humanity, so…I don’t know. That’s a weird question. I don’t think he’s a sexual thing.
WZS: But, you told me in Vegas that he loved hanging out with strippers.
MB: He likes pretty women. Women love Pancho.
WZS: And I am sure they love you.
MB: Yeah, I am sure that they do to, but I get to vibrate at a higher frequency, so there is some abstinence that gets to happen in my life.
WZS: When did you take this vow of celibacy?
MB: About 8 months ago. I also haven’t had alcohol in eight months, and I stopped eating meat for about four months, and I don’t gamble either.
WZS: What was happening? Did you feel corrupted?
MB: No. I just think that it lowers my vibration. There is nothing wrong with sex. Sex is great, and alcohol is fine too, but I am just focused on something else.
WZS: What kinds of rituals have you and Pancho been involved with?
MB: Water ceremony, where we charge and bless the waters with the frequency and vibration of the crystal. We have had shamanic ceremonies. We’ve had fire ceremony. We’ve had pipe ceremony.
WZS: What kinds of experiences have you had?
MB: Beautiful experiences. One thing that a lot of the crystal skull researchers and experts that I have talked to that have met Pancho have told me that he is a ceremonial skull. The ancients used to use him for ceremony.
WZS: You went to the 10.10.10 13 skull gathering in New York City?
MB: There weren’t 13 there.
WZS: How many were there?
MB: Of the ancient ones there were about 6 or 7 of them.
WZS: Did you meet any other skull guardians?
MB: Yes, I did.
WZS: What is that scene like?
MB: Pretty amazing.
WZS: The skull guardian scene?
MB: The skull guardians are like me, you know. They are just normal people that have had this, I don’t want to say good fortune, but you know the skulls have come into their lives and changed them. So they are dealing with it as best they can. I’m dealing with it the best I can. That’s all I can do. It can be interesting. I don’t want to say challenging so much as I am finding out new things about myself every day. I never thought I could, uhh…I never thought I could sing. (Chuckles)
WZS: So, you’re a singer?
MB: It’s just that one time we were having ceremony, and there was this woman that was supposed to be leading the singing and she was being very quiet about it. There was like 75 people there, and hardly anybody could hear her, so I was like; well, step up to the plate Mario, and guess what? Me and my buddy just started singing, and after it was all over I thought to myself, man I never thought that I could sing.
WZS: We were hoping that you would sing with our band, sometime.
MB: Oh, well…that would be cool. Pancho has just shown me so many different things that I never thought I could do. I never thought I could be so committed to something as I am to this. I never thought I could be so focused on wanting to be of service to people like I am today.
WZS: You have proven a lot to yourself.
MB: Oh yeah, I am a changed man actually. I really see how important it is to be a man of my word, and integrity. Carrying a crystal skull and saying that he has messages for mankind, and saying that I am hearing him, and that he’s talking to me, and talking about raising others’ vibration so that it can be closer to a divine vibration…get to be squeaky clean, as best as I can. Believe me there are a lot of things that if it were a year and a half ago, I’d be saying that I should take advantage of having this crystal skull in my life to get this, or that; money, sex, whatever. It’s not that I can’t do it, believe me I can do it, but that’s not what it’s about. It’s about being in control of myself.
WZS: What kinds of spiritual experiences did you have before the crystal skull came into your life?
MB: I had been involved in 12 step programs, and that, of course, is a spiritual journey. I dabbled a little bit in kabbalah, and little bit in Buddhism. I Guess I have aIways been a mystic in a way, even though I didn’t really incorporate it into my personal life.
WZS: Have you been romantically involved since you had the skull?
MB: No. There is a relationship that I have had with somebody for a long time, but right now it’s not a sexual relationship.
WZS: Do you have any kids?
MB: No.
WZS: What are your plans for the rest of 2011?
MB: Traveling, taking the the skull to the people. I’m booked up for most of the year. I have an incredible event happening in Asheville, NC on 11.11.11 with over 5,000 people.
WZS: What’s the significance of 11.11.11?
MB: It’s a very high energetic date. It symbolizes new beginnings. It’s going to be very auspicious.
WZS: So, you said the Lemurians harnessed energy from crystals. What did they use that for?
MB: Spirituality. For those people that don’t know what Lemuria was, Lemuria was like Atlantis. I t was a continent that was around several thousands of years ago, like 35,000 years ago, and it fell into the ocean. The Atlantians were very left brain, technology, scientific, logical, rational people. They also worked with crystals for technological purposes. The Lemurians were more of a spiritual civilization, from a heart chakra, from a third eye chakra level. They were a crystalline society. They used and harnessed the energy for spiritual purposes. Now, we’re a crystaline society too.
WZS: The United States?
MB: This whole world is a crystalline society.
WZS: The human race?
MB: Do you have a cell phone?
WZS: I do.
MB: You know little sim card.
WZS: Yeah.
MB: It’s a crystal.
WZS: Okay.
MB: Do you have a computer? Do you own a laptop? The little microchip in your computer, guess what that is?
WZS: Crystal?
MB: Our satellites in outer space, all the information about GPS is all contained in a piece of crystal. We’re a crystalline society. Where would we be without our crystals today?
WZS: All I ever knew of them was when I was growing up in Arkansas was that we took field trips to dig for crystals.
MB: Right now, Hewlitt Packard, and Apple are all trying to build a crystalline computer.
WZS: What were you saying about brainwaves on the way here?
MB: They are trying to build a computer that can download and upload information just using brainwaves. They are also using all kinds of lasers and things to put in information. See crystal stores memory and information. It stores data. That’s the thing about Pancho. He stores data. He’s a computer. He’s a crystal computer.
WZS: What would you like to happen because of this event in Austin?
MB: I am committed. By bringing the skull to the people of Austin that they get downloaded information from their ancestors, because we are all crystalline, that information that we receive from the crystal skull to the Austinites crystalline structure support them in raising their frequency and vibration. It’s just that simple. It really is. We are receiving downloaded information into our crystalline structure to help us raise our frequency and vibration. If this planet does not start vibrating at a much higher frequency, more of a divine frequency, we’re doomed. Look what’s going on in Egypt and Libya, and Israel and Iran and Korea. Look how we are destroying our planet. Look at the gulf of Mexico with the BP oil spill, in Pennsylvania they are doing this thing called fracking, digging into the shell looking for natural gas, and they are polluting all the rivers. Mankind right now is at a road where he is on the verge of destroying himself and this planet. I bet the ancients knew that it was gonna happen. That’s why they uploaded their information into their computer, so that we would find their computers one day, and extract the information from them to create a remembrance of them in us through ancient wisdom and ancient knowledge, that could possibly divert us in another direction, so that we won’t destroy ourselves and our planet. Now you know what I do, but I like the whole sex thing too. (laughter)
WZS: How about your health.
MB: My health is fine. I’ve lost weight since I’ve had Pancho.
WZS: Mental health?
MB: I’ve always been a little crazy. I think I am getting crazier as time goes by, so I don’t want to go there. Come on, I talk to a crystal skull! What do you think?! (Laughs) I think you have to be open minded and outta the box thinking to do what I do.
WZS: I heard about you before I met you, and I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t think that much about it, and then when I met you it was like, okay I am here now, so you know, I’m gonna be here and experience this thing. You told me a couple things that I kinda carried away with me. The first thing was that you thought that I had some blockage.
MB: Energetic blockages.
WZS: I was like, wow, you were right on, because I was doing a lot of work trying to get over some things. You also told me that you thought my third eye was trying to open. I really thought about that man, I was like,” how can I open my fuckin’ third eye, man?” Because I want it to be open., and I feel like it’s been open.
MB: It has been. I feel like you have become more conscious as a result of the work that you have been doing. Absolutely.
WZS: It’s a process.
MB: It can be. It’s only a process if you say it’s a process. It can only take a second …if you say so.
